At that time, taffy candy was called treacle. (Treacle is a form of sugar or syrup – either cane or molasses-based.) Originally, it was thickened by boiling, made into hard cakes, and then served on a plate. By 1840, everyone wanted a taste of this sweet treat. San Francisco Aids Walk 2011

SF_Aids_Walk_2011The SF Aids Walk 2011 — also known as AIDS Walk San Francisco (AWSF) — took place on Sunday, July 17, 2011. This year’s annual event benefited the San Francisco Aids Foundation and the more than 50 HIV/AIDS programs and services in the Bay Area. The highly successful 10k fundraising walkathon, which begins and ends in Golden Gate Park, is in its 25th year of AIDS fundraising and activism.  During the past quarter-century, more than $74 million has been raised to provide much-needed lifesaving HIV prevention, testing, and care programs and services; to educate the community about HIV and prevent its spread; and to lobby the government to increase its support of HIV care, prevention, and the search for a cure.-----

2011 American Cancer Society Relay for Life
